BLACK THOUGHTS BY ANTHONY ALDEN "I was often told by people around me I would never change. I not only allowed those negative people to reside in my world but I allowed them to cast me into a picture of a man that I wasn't. They thought I wouldn't. They said I couldn't. They told me I shouldn't. So I did. Become all the man I could be."
"I have been journalizing my thoughts since my early teens. I don't think I would have survived if it wasn't for my camera, pen, and paper. ReplyDeleteShooting stage music photography is one of the most difficult industries to break into. Behind the politics, the difficulty in getting media credentials, and the precision of being able to capture the perfect shot when being told you have first two songs to photograph artist. I have been shooting music since 1999 that’s almost 20 years and I have a vast portfolio of major entertainers to document.
Today things have changed in the music industry with the advent of social media. I find it very challenging to stay in an industry that doesn’t appreciate good old school photography.
Not only do you gotta no how to frame and compose a good shot you must have a photo instinct that can’t be taught. You must earn your stripes through years of sacrifice and labor, not a crash YouTube course of how to shoot music photography.
I still love what I do and believe the financial rewards could never compensate me for the passion I feel every-time I get front row of a major concert.
