Keeping a journal of my thoughts and feelings allows me to create a blueprint of my life. This way, my children, family, friends, and even those outside my circle can better understand who I am and how I became the man I am today.
Throughout my life, I have experienced many events that evoked a range of emotions—joy, sorrow, and pain. I have felt a personal and spiritual obligation to share these feelings so others can visualize my world.
"I believe that one man's thoughts are a gift to another man's knowledge; knowledge that paints a picture of their thoughts and emotions."
Everyone's life is as unique as a fingerprint. The interesting thing about thoughts is that they are like ocean tides; they come and go. If you don’t capture them, they will drift back out to sea.
Writing helps me vent my anger and articulate my pain, allowing me to survive another day. My pen and paper are my best friends, ensuring that I never internalize my rage and become a victim like many of my peers. Writing is my way of fighting back against injustice and racism, while also reminding me to celebrate life.
I will not let my fear of offending others deter my thoughts. My emotions are raw, honest, and uncensored.
So when I die and the memories of me begin to fade, my words will serve as my legacy:
that I existed,
that I endured,
that I persevered,
and that I sought a deeper understanding of life.
